What Makes a Perfect Background Removal

Why hair and glass are hard

A clean cutout needs true alpha — partial transparency — not a hard 1-bit mask. Hair strands and glass are partly see-through; forcing them opaque leaves halos or turns glass into a blob. PixelMagic’s Lucida model predicts real alpha, so fine detail survives.

Edge refinement & color decontamination

After the cutout, edge refinement cleans the boundary and color decontamination removes the fringe of the old background bleeding into the edge — the green halo you get when cutting a subject out of grass, for example.
